TWO WOMEN A WEEK in England and Wales DIE at the hands of a current or former partner.
Before becoming a surveyor, I was a police detective in East London. My last days were spent in the Domestic Violence Unit, and I can safely say that whilst I did the best I could, I left the Police never feeling I had done good enough. Much of that, I felt, was down to a lack of support, resources, and knowledge. I now have my own business, and it has always been my intention to donate to multiple charities. Today is the turn of Refuge. I have seen first-hand, as a police detective, the devastation that domestic violence brings about.
Victims need more support. Words are easy.
Our donation will help give a woman the essentials she needs for her first night. It will also provide emotional and practical support to women and children affected by domestic abuse. Lastly, it will provide a woman and her children with at least one night’s stay in a refuge.
We can only pray that the donation helps.
Women MUST be protected.
To all those who work at Refuge please keep up your vital work.
